Just because someone's weight is considered "normal" in this country doesn't always mean it is healthy. And since when does 113 pounds at five foot six mean that someone is anorexic? It seems lately that anyone, be it a celebrity or a regular citizen, who isn't somewhat overweight, now is considered anorexic. Get real!

OMG- what has this society come to? I thought Fodors would attract reasonable intelligent people who want to talk about travel and share their wisdom. Instead, I find a bunch of snarling angry hostile people. Poor Jackie,,, I think most of you are ridiculous in your critisism of her situation..And as for Sam or whoever with the smart remark about the woman who is 130 pounds... your remark is way off base and irrelevant.

Does anyone know a travel site where people don't bash one another. This is sad.

Jackie,
What you explain is certainly an inconvenience. It is hardly a nightmare. Come on now.

Also learn how to spell. I am amazed that someone that held your job doesn't know the difference between advise and advice. Not to mention your other typos. It's almost like - GASP - you don't comprehend English enough to write. Do you have a problem with writing and understanding English?

Wow!
What is wrong with people. Jackie was trying to tell of her experience. I understand where she is coming from. I would find it a hassle to be checked three times. I understand these security measures are needed but three times is a bit much to pack and unpack and pack again. I have found that a bit of humor helps. I had a small pack of cookies in the zip up on the outside of my carry on. When the man got to that compartment I told him to check anything he wanted but please don't sqish my cookies. He actually laughed and believe it or not he was then very careful with checking the rest of my bag. When he was done I told him to have a nice day and smiled. He wished me the same. My husband thought the whole thing was quite cool.

And by the way, this happened last September 18th at LOGAN AIRPORT.

Gail - careful now! You spelled 'squish' incorrectly. This group will tear you apart for less than that! What idiots, why would I trust their opinions on travel or anything else for that matter!

In answer to your question about other travel sites - look for one that requires registration. Over the years I have found that forums like this with no control are eventually destroyed by a few individuals. Also, It pays to be very careful about any information you get, try to confirm it with a second source.

The original poster put this Air Tran story on just about every message board known to man.

I've flown AirTran to Atlanta, What a great AirLine. To be able to upgrade for $25. What a dream. Lovely staff, who do their jobs properly, and do proper checks. I felt very safe flying with them.

Aside from the screening, the last 3 times we flew with Air-Tran, (and each time I swore it would be the last), but they were soooo convenient, we either had a delay or cancellation. The last time, we were in Ft. Myers, (and yes, there was a brief thunderstorm), but no other planes were delayed, except ours, and the story was that there was a storm, which only lasted about 5 minutes, does that explain a 3 1/2 hour delay? Weather along the whole route was clear. The ticket guy was actually going up to the windows (dark outside) and cupping his hands to his eyes and "looking outside" for "de plane--de plane." That really made us feel confident! What a mickey mouse operation that was!! Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they have communication and computers? No one from Air Tran would give us an explanation when we asked. All they told us was it was due to the storm overhead. Many people ended up having to miss a days work the next day due to this ridiculous delay. The time before, we actually had a flight cancelled with no explanation, and they had to reroute a whole full plane to either a 1st come, 1st serve, or they had to book the next day, which was when the next plane had empty seats. That too, was at least a 3 hour delay. We did have a new plane, but it really wasn't worth it! Next time, no matter what the cost, we will fly direct, if at all possible. I know delays are to be expected a majority of the time, but this airline is ABSOUTELY ridiculous!
