Flowers on Oahu

Where is the best place to see orchids and anthuriums? out in the "wild" on Oahu? We could do some hiking. Mahalo

Not sure that there are that many places where orchids and anthuriums are growing truly "wild". They would probably all end up being taken.

Your best bet is to either go to Lyon Arboretum or Foster Botanical Gardens. Not truly wild, but as close as you're going to get. Both places have a website so you can see if they might have what you're looking to see.

Anthuriums are not native to Hawaii. So you are unlikely to see any in the wild. There may be some, but I don't know of any.

Foster Garden does have some "wild orchids".

This link says there are wild orchids on the Maunawili trail.

The Audobon gardens near the north shore are lovely. Take your swimsuit and take a dip in the pond at the end of the trail.

Now only a few days left until we arrive in your beautiful state!
Thanks for the info on seeing "flowers"...all the ideas are good ones.
I saw you mention Audobon Gardens. When my 2 boys were in high school, their favorite place was Waimea Falls - they would jump off of the cliff inside the park. A few yrs. ago when I was there, it was so commercial that we didn't even go into the park.
Now, I read that that has changed. I'm really anxious to go up into the park now..thanks.
