We would like to go to the Keys in Feb. or March and are thinking of Marathon. Is anyone familiar with Key Colony? Can you suggest areas to rent that are good starting points to explore the keys..We like natural areas with water views and pool...not too expensive. We also like Bonita Springs and South Ft. Myers near Lover's Key but are worried that the weather will be too cool in Feb. Any advice
I was there last year, beginning of April. It was fabulous weather so I suppose if you can schedule your trip for the end of March you would probably have an equal chance of lovely weather. Years ago I was in Key West in December and the weather was warm enough for shorts and sundresses and a few afternoons at the pool. I'd go for it if I was you. Heck, how bad could it be? Other than a hurricane, that is.
Key Colony is very pleasant with many condos with water view. You are a short drive from all the Marathon restaurants and shops. You are an hour from Key West and 30 minutes from Islamorada. Check out www.vrbo.com for options and pricing. If you enjoy the Keys, Key Colony is a good choice.
Thanks for your advice about Marathon. How about Islamorda? How does that compare? ...looking for condos with pools, beach access and water views. Has anyone stayed at the Futura Yatch Club? We like quiet natural areas. Husband likes to fish.
Don't know if you have gone to the Keys yet but if you haven't...Islamorada is known as the "Sportfishing Capital of the World".
DS has a lovely condo at the Futura Yacht club, which includes a boat slip. Wheh he goes there, he just calls ahead to where he can rent a nice fishing boat, and they deliver it. He rents it out weekly or monthly. Let me know if you are interested and I will give you the listing number. It is quiet, nice pool and grounds.
