I am looking for a really nice inn on the water within a few hours of Orlando for an anniversary weekend. Would like to hear about some experiences with small intimate inns, hotels with nice jacuzzi rooms. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

There are a lot of lovely inns in St. Augustine and also Amelia Island. Either one would be a lovely destination. Go to any search engine and type in St. Augustine bed and breakfasts or Amelia Island bed and breakfasts and you should get quite a few to choose from.

Have posted previously on this property, but take a look at the Elizabeth Pointe Lodge at Amelia Island. It's a small inn with a B&B feel directly on the ocean. Our third-floor room had a large soaking tub and a good view of the ocean. Believe the web site is elizabethpointelodge.com.
There are some good restaurants and shopping in nearby Fernandina Beach.

Surely there are closer Inns on the Gulf Coast. Amelia is at least 3 hours away. Both St. Augustine & Amelia are on the beach, yes, but the Atlantic is just ugly. It's a murky gray (water & sand) all year long. Please, go to the Gulf Coast where the water is clear & blue and the sand is white. Somebody help them out on the Gulf Coast.

OK, how about Song of the Sea on Sanibel Island? Get an upper room with a Gulf view, with screen porch facing the Gulf. The outdoor hot tub is quite nice, and it's fun to ride the property's bicycles around the island. Song of the Sea is a South Seas Resorts property; go to ssrc.com

Roadtripper, I've seen the Atlantic ocean zillions of times, but never have I seen it as 'ugly'.

Another vote for Song of the Sea. We were there for Christmas. Had a pleasant downstairs room overlooking the attractive garden and pool. Sit on the beach, pick up shells on the beach, sit in the hot tub, swim in the heated pool, ride the hotel's bikes round the island - there's a great breakfast, books, movies. It has only 30 rooms. Hope we'll go back some day.

Where did you view it from? The places suggested were Amelia Island & St. Augustine, both of which I have been to many many times, having grown up in Jacksonville. The Atlantic along this part of Florida is littered with trash, and the sand & surf is gray. Hence my suggestion somewhere a lot prettier within that 3 hour distance.

I agree with roadtripper--the Gulf side of Florida is much better. The water is clear blue and warmer and the beaches are sugary white sand. I love everywhere I have been in Florida, but for the best water and sand, the Gulf side rules!
