Florida in between stop 2 days after Key Largo towards St.pete

My husband and I have never been to the keys, We have reservations in Key Largo at Kona kai resort for three days, We are having difficulty planning return trip back to St.Pete. We have 2 days to spend before we get to St.Pete. Any suggestions on towns, areas with accommodations on our way back? Thank you. RZ

I would consider Naples and Sarasota area.

Depends on what you are looking for and how you want to spend those two days. And, how much time will you really have once you subtract driving time.

We like Sanibel.

Make sure you spend a day in Key West.

All excellent advice.

Key Largo is an interesting key, but the other keys are interesting, too. Don't miss them.

Going north, drive across the Everglades on US 41, not on the Interstate. Stop at Turner River to see the alligators. Take a picture in front of the smallest post office in the US. Detour to Everglades City and Chokoluskee. End up in Naples. Stay near downtown. Watch the sunset from the pier. Eat dinner.

If you opt for Sanibel next day, you can make a leisurely drive pretty much right along the water as far as Ft Myers Beach or you can move somewhat more quickly via US 41.

For Sarasota, you will have to get out on I-75.

Alternatively, you could spend both nights at any of these places. There is plenty to see and do.

I would spend two days on Siesta Key. One of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.

Key Largo was my least favorite Key, it is just not as scenic as the other Keys. Be sure to take the drive down to Key West and view the sunset celebration there.
