flight/train advice florence/rome

we're planning a trip into rome and out of Florence this June. I just stumbled on a fabulous airfare in and out of Rome with 1 stop, which would also mean taking the train from Florence to Rome on the way back. Where is the Rome train station in relation to the airport? What are people's opinions on the practicality of this? Thanks

You probably should post this on the Europe board.

Rome Termini station is actually quite far from the airport. I've taken the train from Rome to Naples many times. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the train station, about 40 euros minimum. Also tell the driver to take the most direct route - many of them will try to take you along a scenic route, which takes longer, etc. I personally like taking the train - if you can get a Eurostar train, you should take it. It's worth the extra money - a reserved seat, with snack car, nice facilities onboard, plenty of room for luggage, etc. You can book them ahead of time on trenitalia.it and use a kiosk to print the tickets out once you arrive at the station.

There are frequent trains from FCO to Termini... takes about 30 minutes and costs about 10 euro. Don't forget to validate your ticket (yellow box) before getting on the train.
