My wife and I are visiting San Francisco in september from the United kingdom, Can anybody recommend a good restaurant at Fishermans wharf

At Fisherman's Wharf half the fun of it is eating chowder in a bread bowl or shrimp poboys at one of the open air stands and sitting at a sidewalk table people watching. We ate at Bubba Gumps on Pier 39, very good food.Don't miss the "Bush Man" on the wharf!

We still like the crowded, loud, cramped, sometimes a long wait, Scoma's on the wharf.
A bit hard to find since it's down one of the side streets.
If you're seated in the back rooms you can get a nice little view of the boats and the skyline.

Grotto #9 wasn't too bad either.

The restaurants on Pier 39 have much better views.

They just opened an "In-n-Out" on Fisherman's wharf. Enjoy the seafood, but make sure you have a double-double. Its the best

I agree with Sharon - the best way to experience Fisherman's Wharf is to buy a bread bowl full of chowder or one of the other specialties at the stands and sit and watch all the interesting people that go by. Or position yourself near a street performer and enjoy!

I had to post another message to suggest to you that you dine at the Tonga Room which is located in the Fairmont Hotel. It has tiki huts, a floating bandstand - truly unique and the food is good. I live in SF area. You will find most of the great restaurants are in other parts of the City. Scoma's has been on the wharf forever and still has good seafood. It is not fancy and offers a good value. Anyone on the wharf can direct you to the right street to turn on to get there. They also have a restaurant on the water in Sausilito that is good.
