Try this site:www.nycvisit.com - You can get lots of information there. NYC is so full of things to do that your options are limitless. A few suggestions: go see at least one Broadway show, take the boat to the Statue of Liberty, visit several of the excellent museums(Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim are a few),do lots of walking- Soho and the upper west side are especially good for that, also see Central Park-it will be nice in June.

What kind of budget are you on? Hotels range from affordable to pretty outrageous. A good place to check out hotel rates is the "Travel" section of the New York Times which you can find over the Web. As for what to do, the possibilities are endless. Go to see "RENT" on Broadway or "Blue Man Group" which is an Off-Broadway show. They are both a blast. Central Park is a great place to spend an afternoon. Walk around Soho, and the Village. Lots of people watching. The Metropolitan Museum of Art , the MOMA (modern art) and The Museum of Natural History are all wonderful. Get to at least one of them if you can. Walk up (or down) Fifth and Madison Avenues for terrific window shopping. Also, I would suggest having a romantic dinner one evening. There are a ton of restaurants. Some suggestions: Cafe des Artistes, Chanterelle, Montrachet, Alison on Dominick, Aureole, Sonia Rose. These are all very expensive, but very worth the experience. Some less expensive, but lovely as well are Provence, Chez Michallet, La Metarie, The Black Sheep. You can check out Fodor's restaurant guide as well as any NYC websites for many more suggestions. If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me. June is a great time to see the city. Have fun!

When in NY you must try and get tickets to the taping of a tv show for the experience! All of the daytime talk shows (Montel, Maury, Sally Jesse, etc.) are REAL easy to get tickets for. Just call the NYC Visitors Bureau (212-397-8200). They can give you a lot of great info on anything. In fact, when you get to NY you might want to go to the Visitors Bureau to get info and pick up brochures. If you ask, they often have free tickets to shows just sitting around.
My FAVORITE show to go to while in NY is Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Tickets are usually real easy to get. Just call NBC Studios at 212-664-3056 or (3057). You might be able to get other tickets that way too. But Conan is a BLAST...a lot of fun. Good luck and have fun. Email me if you've got any questions or if you want any more phone #'s

It all depends on what your preferences are, but if you go see a Broadway show, you MUST see Rent. Wander around the Virgin Megastore in Times Square! My favorite bar/restaurant/place to see bands is the Rodeo Bar @ 27th and 3rd ave. David Letterman is a great tv show to see taped. HAVE FUN!!!!!

My husband and I recently visited New York City for the first time. We live in the mid-west, and I was concerned about the crime. I was pleasantly suprised at how safe I felt at all times. We must have walked miles. Central Park is great fun during the day (watch out at night). Probably the best restaurant I have ever eaten in was Rosa Mexicana. It has been featured several times on Martha Stewart. It is a bit pricey for mexican food, but worth every dime. Try the guacamole made fresh at your table and the pomogranite margaritas are unbelievable ($7.50 a pop). Hope you have a great time!

Just got back from NYC last week. I had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend you take along a guide book (like Fodor's). It makes for quick references to things like restaurants, prices, business hours, site descriptions, and so forth. Also, do see a Broadway show. You could play it safe with some of the old ones like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera, but we saw two new ones: Titanic and Jekell and Hyde. I very much enjoyed both. You might also want to get tickets for the Grey Line buses that tour the city. They allow you to hop on and off at many stops throughout Manhatten, and a tour guide on the bus keeps everyone's attention. Have a wonderful vacation.

Broadway shows! See as many as you can afford. And get the best seats you possibly can. You can go to the box office of the show you want to see and they will show you a seating chart. You can sometimes luck out and get good seats at TKTS in Times Square at the last minute. Last time I was there the line was too long for me to waste my time standing in. Radio Music City Hall has a very interesting tour. I enjoyed that. Of course the Statue of Liberty is a must. But I personally didn't want to waste my time again standing in line to go up inside it. I will be there the same week with a couple of ladies. Who knows, maybe I'll run into you! Have fun!

I just went to New York a few weeks ago. We went on
the Apple bus tour, and it was great. I have been to NY many times, and this is the first time I took a bus tour. They point out sights, and give you a little history on them. There are so many things about NY that I never knew. Sitting on the top of the bus was great. You can see so much up there.
Also, you can get off at the World trade Center. There is a TKTS booth where you can purchase same day theatre tickets for half price. The line is
way shorter here than at Times Square.
