First Time in New York
My husband and I are planning our first trip to New York for this year we need some advice on a good place to stay. We are looking for a hotel approximately $150 - $200 night. Some one has recommended the Comfort Inn Manhatten or the Holiday Inn. Any suggestions would be welcome. We would like to be close to the usual touristy places, we have tickets to see two Broadway shows.

One of the best, reasonably priced hotels around is The Sheraton New York Towers. You can book a room for under two hundred dollars there and it is such a great location to everything! I've stayed at the Waldorf, The Sheraton and then the New York Hilton and I preferred The Sheraton New York Towers the most. Nice room, large bathroom and reat location to everything!

The Best Western President might be a good choice.
It's at 48th, just off Broadway. We got a room there New Year's Eve for $160. The rooms are small but clean and well maintained, and the staff is helpful and friendly. We like the location -- close to theaters and a walkable distance to Central Park, Rockefeller Center, etc.

Best Western President is an excellant place to stay . It is in the heart of the theatre district and close to the New York information center. Subways are within a block and can take you anyplace in the city. There is also a contnental breakfast and the staff is helpful. I paid 90 dollars a night and was quite happy with the accomadations. good luck on your trip.

I'll vote for Best Western President also. It looks to be a very nice medium-priced hotel on an excellent (almost quaint) block, right in the heart of what you're looking for. (There are 2 theatres on the block and the TKTS booth is right around the corner.)

Hi Seema...if you are going to be here before April check out the Gorham Hotel on West 55th Street...it's a luxurious European style boutique hotel right in the middle of everything...right now a suite is going for $159.00 per night and suites have whirlpool baths, the plush robes, etc. You can walk to theaters, museums, 5th Avenue, Central Park and more from here...and you'll be right around the corner from the famous Carnegie Deli.

I would definitely try priceline but stick to 4*. Start out with one area, if it rejects, keep adding more areas. We recently bid $100 for Midtown South for some family members (we live in NYC) and ended up with a lovely suite at the hotel avalon. Check the website biddingfortravel.com for hints on priceline bidding. In your pricerange you can also try some of the smaller hotels like Marcel and Thirty Thirty. The Time Square (midtown West on priceline) area is very noisy, crowded and full of tourists. Other neighborhoods tend to be more peaceful and access to times sq. and other sites is easy from just about anywhere.
