First Time In Atlantic City

I would like some advice and information on Atlantic City. We would like to spend a weekend there. We are frequent visitors to Las Vegas, but have never been to AC. Can you suggest some hotel/casinos? Do you like the ones on or off the Boardwalk? What are the price ranges. Thank you for any information.

One big word of caution: if you like Vegas, you'll probably hate AC. Don't go with the notion that it's Vegas by the sea...it's not. It's dirty, smelly much of the time, rather run down and it's not even cheap.
I love LV. I'll never go near AC again.

I have to agree with the above post,AC cannot touch LV. I too love LV and I live just a couple of hours away from AC but the place is pretty dirty. If you're really curious and if it won't cost you a lot of money then go and see for yourself. You'll probably never go back.

Kathy, I don't know why people don't like Atlantic City. I stayed at the Atlantic Palace Suites on the Boardwalk. I made reservations with Atlantic City Online. The price was right and the room and view of the Boardwalk 29 stories up was fabulous! I've been to many places like Hawaii,Tahiti, the Caribbean and
still like going back to Atlantic City. It's just plain FUN!! Have a
good time!!

I would suggest you instead go to Foxwoods in Conneticut. At least if you go there you can do other things such as drive into Mystic and visit the seaport and Olde Mystic Village. Even in the casino itself there is more to do than AC. In AC there's really only gambling and that's it.

Thanks, everyone, for the great information. I have checked a few hotels and am very surprised at how much they cost. I know that AC could never compare to Vegas, but since we live about 5 hours south of AC, I thought that we could get a "quick fix". I appreciate your time and thoughts!!

Although I'm not a huge fan of AC, I have to dispute Donna's assertion that there is more to do in Connecticut. There is a lot to do within an hour or so of Atlantic City: Ocean City which is a wonderful clean shore town, Victoria Cape May, the Pine Barrens, and Philadelphia. I lived in Connecticut for 11 years and in NJ 9 so feel pretty confident in saying that you can find as much to do in this area as you can in Connecticut.
