Firs time in San Francisco

My girlfriend and I are two stay-at-home mothers and we are just clueless about what to choose for a trip without kids. My idea of traveling is to do 3 things visit a good museum, a theatrea show and visit a wine tasting place. Any advices other than San Fracisco, we're traveling from Texas and the visiting city has to be any city that Southwest Airline travel.

Hi, kikis!

I'm a bit confused on exactly WHERE you want to go: Your header says "First time in San Francisco" indicating that you want advice on SF.

Then in your post you say: "any advices other than San Francisco".

So, do you want advice on SF or places in California other than SF?

Southwest flies into three northern California cities: Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento.

Southwest also flies into five southern California cities: Los Angeles, Burbank, Ontario, Orange County, and San Diego.

Are you planning to fly into northern or southern California via Southwest?

Help us to help you!

If I'm reading it right, kikis has sort of planned to go to San Francisco as Southwest flies there and it fits the description of what they are looking for. But she is curious if anyone else has a different suggestion that would fit the bill even better.

I'll bite. San Francisco is the BEST for what you say. Go there.

Southwest flies to the Oakland airport, easy connection with SF by BART.

Well if I wanted to just kick back and have fun - I'd do San Diego over SF

It has everything you want plus beautiful beaches
and it so happens that this week its Southwests destination city - so cheap fares

I agree sunburn, SD is gorgeous! We spent our honeymoon there and I attended SDSU one summer and I fell in love with the place.

kikis, have you considered Santa Barbara? It's also beautiful and the wine region around the area is very good. (Have you seen Sideways?) I would recommend the Harbor View Inn, www.harborviewinnsb.com It is right across the street from Stearn's Wharf. Have fun! ***kim***

kikis has gotten several suggestions here, including SF.

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...1&tid=34574663

I'm guessing you've seen that, kikis, and that's why you mention SF. If not, you can find all your posts by clicking your name at the top of this screen.

But if you have seen it, why do none of the other suggestions work for you? You haven't given us any more info here than in the original post. So, why not SF? Tell us why you're hesitant about it or the other suggestions and it will go along way toward getting you better suggestions on the next go-round.
