Finger Lakes after 5

We're spending the entire week in the Finger Lakes next week and was informed today all stores and activities close by 5:00. Is this true? I understand the area is beautiful and know there are a lot of daytime things to do, but wondering about night.

Well, the wineries do close at 5pm. Restaurants obviously stay open after 5pm. Some small businesses do close at 5pm, but some stay open. As far as activities, depends on what you're referring to. If you have certain things planned, I would check beforehand to make sure they are open.

Part of the culture here in the FL is to have an active day, spend lots of time outdoors, hiking, wine tasting, etc., then going out to dinner and after that, relaxing on the porch or in front of a fire with a bottle of FL wine. Star gazing is one of my favorite things to do at night.

If you are staying around Ithaca, that will have more to do at night since it is a college town. Simeon's on the Commons has a great beer menu.

Let us know how you make out! SG

We've rented a house in Penn Yan. Are you familiar with that area?

To clarify, if the winery has a restaurant, that will stay open for dinner, however the tasting part will close down...Red Newt has an amazing chef.
