I live in Nashville area and see country music people all the time. They are all shorter in person! Once pumped gas next to Kenny Rogers and Faith Hill is always at Nordstrom's

Celebrities always seems shorter than you would have thought--must be because we see them as larger than life.

I once flew on the same plane as Tony Danza. Try to control your envy.

I was once at the Oakland airport, reaching for Sports Illustrated, when somebody reached/(towered) over me (going) for another copy, and it was 4-time All American hoopster, Ralph Sampson who did NOT seem shorter than I would have thought.

The OP probably has a better chance of finding Carmen San Diego than Steve Perry.
