STW, I have a feeling I'll be in the same boat next year. My daughter is hoping to move into one of the on-campus apartments. I'd really like to see her stay in the dorm. But not many of the students seem to past their second year. Unless they're interns, which is Hampshire's equivalent of R.A.'s.

Let's just hope both of our kids wind up with fairly responsible roommates!

Wasn't yesterday your big test? I forgot to wish you luck. How did it go?

And, jorr, I really think yesterday's troll was new. I don't think I've ever seen any others who were quite as mean spirited as this guy. Let's just hope we've seen the end of him!

Hi Caph. Yes, my exam was yesterday. It was the longest 4 1/2 hours of my life! How did I do? Well, I can't really say. It was the most difficult of the bunch and as I drove away from the test site, I didn't rule out the possibiity that I might be back - we'll know in a month. But I will try and remain cautiously optomistic

Back to the dorm thing...my oldest couldn't live off campus, if you received scholarship, they wouldn't allow it. I don't think that will be the case for the youngest, but he is rather attached to the cafeteria lady because he likes to eat, lol. So I think he will stay on campus - now I just gotta talk some sense into him about 5 people and only 1 bathroom (but he's a guy, they really don't care about those things). But you are right, as long as the roommates have some common sense, things usually work out. Usually.

Hampshire doesn't allow students to live off campus either. Unless they have family within something like 30 miles. But they have a lot of on-campus apts. In some of them, I think there are as many as 10 kids per apt.! My idea of a nightmare!

Let us know when you get your results from the exam. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Ah, on-campus apartments - I gotcha now! Why would a kid want to live with 9 other people?!? Well there's no such animal where my youngest goes and if he dares to think about moving off campus, I might have to hurt him

I thought of your daughter this weekend and how her school doesn't give traditional "grades" - this is something that the oldest's grad school does as well. He is waiting to see how this will play out. A little different than what he is used to.

BTW, thanks for thinking of me and that darn exam

There's a guy posting today who's making me re-think that statement! The mean spirited part. I hope the editors are as diligent today. Unfortunately, this guy doesn't seem to be new.

Sometimes I think some people didn't learn how to behave in kindergarten...and first grade...and second....well, you get the picture.

jorr, as goofy as the refresh function has been lately, I can't be sure. But it looks like they may have pulled the threads he'd posted on. I hope I'm wrong. While I was hoping they'd delete him, the threads were good. One was the NYC with young kids one which had some really good info. The other was also NYC related, can't remember which one. And when I clicked on his name, I saw that he'd posted several times on the Europe board.

I've looked again and I sure don't see the threads. What a shame that some jerk can come on and cause really good threads to be pulled. The other day they only deleted the troll's posts and the responses to him. Can't understand why they didn't do that this time.

Probably a different editor on duty. They are certainly not consistent.

I really feel badly for the OP of that NYC with kids thread 'cause she'd gotten so many good responses. Hope she'd printed them!

I wonadered my FF R&R had been cut off. I went back to read more postings this morning and it was frozen. Guess I missed the troll but that might be good thing if he/she was as mean spirited as you all said.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish Tiff Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to all those celebrating this week.

Caph - First of all, it was so great to hear the good news about your husband. Thank you for commenting on my ex-husband and his dementia. We have stayed good friends and he really needs someone to help him with his affairs. I am trying to get with his family and friends to work that out. You are right, I am doing most of it for my daughters. As I said, they are young and are upset about the diagnosis. My oldest at 22yo is willing to step-in but she will need help and she has just graduated from college and is trying to get her career started. So it's a difficult situation. I appreciate your concern.

Hello Paula, I saw your original post. Best wishes to you and your daughters. IMO you are a loving mother to your daughters to take some responsibility or care regarding their father. I am sure they will never forget the sacrifice and effort you are making. Don't forget to take good care of yourself also! Best wishes to you.

I agree with LoveItaly, my word Paula, what an incredible example you are setting for your daughters, they must be as proud of you as we are! Well done.

And thank you again everyone for your kind anniversary wishes. Mr. Tiff was VERY surprised and very pleased about the tickets to Sir Paul. I wrapped them with a CD of his and kind of had the tickets sticking out of the CD, if you can picture that. It was fun.

Thank you for starting this thread CAPH.

Thank you all for your very kind words. I know the situation will only continue to get worse but I want to support my daughters as much as I can.

Tiff-What a great anniversary present for your husband. I am sure he was very surprised.

I don't get it...Yesterday I looked and looked for that NYC with young kids thread. I swear it wasn't there. Now it's back. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's there. But why couldn't I find it yesterday? It had been active early in the afternoon. So when I was looking for it, I made sure I searched everything from yesterday morning through yesterday evening. It wasn't there. As people have said on several different threads, there's definitely something goofy going on here!

I wanted to post a respone to the FFR&R thread and noticed that too. I was going to start a new one but never got around to it.

I just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to Tiff. Your happiness makes me look forward more to my soon-to-be newly married life.

I also wanted to say how happy I am for you and your family, CAPH, on the wonderful news. With all that you've been through you, and your husband, truly deserved to get such fabulous news!
