Ferry - Connecticut to Long Island

I'm trying to read up on info on taking the ferry from CT to LI - This would be for a day trip. Sag Harbor, Southampton, Bridgehampton are all on the list of towns to visit... I know of stuff to do in Sag Harbor, but need some help finding stuff to do in the other towns. (Not enough time to do wineries)

So if anyone can suggest some quick site seeing stuff to do I'd appreciate the help.

I believe the ferry takes you to the north fork, not the south fork where the hamptons are located. Might be closer to do the wineries.

ray...i'm very familiar w/the ferries...
there is a ferry from new london-orient point long island, which is on the north fork. they run frequently, and reservations are reccomended if it's a holiday...you can easily get to the wineries in mattituck and jamesport. lenz is my favorite on the north fork, and there are many others to choose from, all are pretty much on route 25a.
the south fork would be more of a drive. enjoy!

Google New London Ferry and you should find it. From the landing near Greenport to Sag Harbor is not a long trip using the ferry to Shelter Island. From SI it's a piece of cake to the Hamptons.

How much total time is it(say there are no delays) from New London to Orient Point and then on to Sag Harbor after the other 2 ferries?

There would be a total of 3 ferries, right?

well, I can answer the first part of the question. The New London-Orient ferry takes 90 minutes to cross, and you need to arrive 30 minute ahead of time for boarding. I've taken that ferry very many times and it is run extremely well...never any delays. Well, okay maybe 5-10 minutes, but never any significant problems.

The drive from Orient Point to Greenport to get the Shelter island ferry probably takes about 15 minutes.

and there you've got me, its been too many years since I took the ferry to Shelter Island, I can't tell you how long that takes. or the ferry from there to Sag Harbor. I think its on the order of 30 minutes each, but I'm not really sure.

by the way, www.longislandferry.com is the website for the Cross Sound Ferry.
