The Admiral Fell Inn in Fells Point is the only real hotel I would consider in Fells Pt. Maybe Harrison's Wharf which is at edge of Inner Harbor. Small, inn type accomodations. All large hotels are located around Inner Harbor. Lots of great restaurants in Fell's Pt, esp Black Olive and Kali's Court and Charleston. Annapolis hotel I know is Loew's which is nice, not too big.

In Annapolis, your best bet is Historic Inns of Annapolis. Several nicely rennovated buildings, clustered around the State House. A very good restaurant in the biggest of them - the Maryland Inn. The Governor Calvert House has the most modern rooms in the group, because they gutted an early 18th century mansion and added a large addition out the back.

For a great place to eat crabs near Annapolis you have to find Cantler's Riverside Inn. I do mean find, because it takes some persistence and a call ahead to get detailed directions. It is worth it! The atmosphere is great for eating crabs and sitting by Mill Creek---picinic tables and brown paper and beer served only in cans! You have to love that type of setting to really enjoy Cantler's.

Man oh man. Crabs. YEAH! Stay in Annapolis and visit the Baltimore Inner Harbor for a day. Where to stay in Annapolis? Marriott Waterfront for the scenery.(Bottom of Main Street) Real nice but pricey. Historic Inns of Annapolis a.k.a. Maryland Inn. (Top of Main Street) Subdued, casual, charming, upper class, historic feel. Loews Hotel is nice but a little bit farther walk from the Annapolis sites (Maybe 7 minute walk from Maryland Inn at Main St. and Church Circle) Also B&Bs abound. Some nice ones on King George St. Where to eat? Crabs- Cantlers (A ten minute drive from downtown Annapolis) Many other places serve crabs but Cantlers has the best 'crab house' feel to it. Crab eating tip: don't use a mallet, use a reg. kitchen table knife for better control to crack open the claws. Keep all the crab's legs on when opening the crab so you can use them as a handle to snap the meat out of the opened and quartered crab. And never order Jumbos. Larges suffice and typically have same amount of actual meat. (Sorry I'm rambling on about this but I moved away last year to NC and I'm having withdrawal symptoms!) Crab Cakes- Davis'Pub across the Eastport Bridge. A fifteen minute walk from Downtown. Ribs- Adam's Ribs in Edgewater (20 min. drive) Get the ribs, onion loaf and steamed shrimp. Cocktails - the Chart House restaurant's lounge across the Eastport Bridge. Wonderful view of Annapolis on the water. Way too many good restaurants to mention. Get specific with me and I'll gladly tell more. Enjoy!

Ah, Maryland steamed crabs! Just HAD to put in my $.02.
I tend to buy the biggest (or near-biggest) ones available, unless I'm doing an "all you can eat" thing (which are usually "mediums"). Especially for a beginner to crabs, I would say the extra amount of sweet lump crab meat is worth the extra cost. The "attack phase" of getting to that meat is a bit gross if you've never done it before (it's a ton of fun when you're used to it!) so the big pay-off from a jumbo crab will make it all worthwhile.

CRABS! Have to say Cantlers is the best.It is on Brownsville Rd off Rte 50,hard to find by road. Obrycki's in Baltimore is also very good. Do Stay away from Haymans in Edgewater and Mikes in Riva.If you venture across the Bay Bridge ,Harris Crab House (www.harriscrabhouse.com)on Kent Island is also excellent. There is also The Crab Deck over there but I have not eaten there. It is worth driving over 20 min east of Annapolis to get there.
