Feedback on Hotel Rouge

Anyone stay here? My husband and I are staying a few days in DC this summer and I'd like to be near Dupont Circle and stay at somewhere fun. I've heard that it can be noisy, however, because sound from the bar and common areas travel to the rooms. Can anyone confirm/deny? Offer any other suggestions? Much appreciated!

I stayed there for one night and loved the location - I walked up to Whole Foods and got myself some great food from their food bar. Hotel Rouge is great - very interesting - all red decor in the rooms. I didn't have any problem with noise. But my problem was that when you walked into the hotel, the smoke from the bar hit you like a brick wall. I spoke to the manager and he said they would no longer allow smoking at the bar at some point in the future. I also like Hotel Madera. If you can get these hotels at a good rate, they are a good deal. But I definitely wouldn't pay more than $200/night for them.

All bars have been non-smoking as of Jan. 1, 2007.

If you're looking for the Kimpton hotel experience, I actually think Topaz Hotel and Hotel Madera are better located. But all have a very similar feel - unique decor, very suave lounges, fun atmosphere.
