Please recommend your favorite place for an early morning breakfast... view is important too.

Thanks!

Duke's restaurant at Outrigger Waikiki on the beach. The place is outside right on the beach.

Or, just upstairs from Dukes ( which has a very nice buffet!) is the Hula Grill. A little better view from upstairs and the grub is good. Also, we had one of our best meals at the Cheese Cake Factory between Dukes and the Royal Hawaiian, not to mention the cheese cake! Also, try LuLu's. Great food and drink.

How early? I'm not sure what time they open, but the Hau Tree Lanai in the New Otani Kaimana Beach hotel is a favorite for me & my friends.

I agree with the Hau Tree. It's lovely.

Less expensive is the Shorebird breakfast buffet in the Outrigger Reef Hotel. Try to get a window seat, but go out the back to see the very best unobstructed view of Diamond Head I've seen.

I have to second the Shorebird - but just watch out for the feathered guests who will try to steal a bite or two! It was a gorgeous morning the last time I had breakfast there, and the buffet wasn't half bad (not to be compared to any in Las Vegas, for sure) for the money. Get a $1 off coupon from one of the "This Week on Oahu" or other coupon books.

The New Otani has a great breakfast right on the beach by the old Banyon tree.

We didn't have breakfast there, only dinner, but I'm with the others on the Hau Tree Lanai for a splendid view.
Plus, we really enjoyed Duke's for breakfast.

I am another whose favorite is the Shore Bird. The food is good and the price is very good; the view is great.

Any other more casual places for breakfast on/near Waikiki Beach?

Lulu's on Kalakaua at the southern end of the beach. It's on the second floor and open air. Try to sit by the railing. They have good pancakes.

It used to be a 24-hour Denny's, and we went once very early on our first morning because we couldn't go back to sleep (six-hour time difference). There was an almost full moon, seen through the palm trees, setting over the ocean. It was gorgeous--the most romantic breakfast I've ever had!

I would recommend Duke's buffet over the Shorebird's, although the Shorebird's isn't bad. Duke's would be my first choice.

Duke's is nice, but the service was very slow, but it was the Christmas holiday and it was touristy and crowed. Anyway, we waited for close to an hour for our order to arrive. Fortunately, we had a primo location to enjoy the beach view.
