Favorite San Juan Island?
My husband and I would like to plan a trip to the San Juan Islands and would like to know what your favorite island is and why. Also if you can give me some suggestions of romantic places to stay. I'm willing to spend up to $275 a night.

We love Orcas and staying at Spring Bay Inn (springbayinn.com). Orcas has great sightseeing, excellent restaurants, and some nice crafts studios.
Spring Bay Inn is one of our favorite destinations. It's one of those 'end of the dirt road' kind of places and a little ways from the restaurants but that's part of its appeal for us. Very nice accomodations with only 5 rooms. Sea kayaking every morning is loads of fun; one of the owners (a great couple retired from the CA park system) takes everyone out for about 2 hours; when you return a huge breakfast is waiting.
Highly recommended.

They are all great but Orcas is my favorite also (due to the variety of terrain and the hiking trails in Moran State Park), and I strongly second the recommendation of the Spring Bay Inn...it's wonderful. Another possibility though if you are not B&B people is the Anchorage Inn, which are more like little studio condos so more private for couples.
