Favorite Eastern US State to vacation in?

What is your favorite State East of the Mississippi to vacation in?

I know FL is at the top of a lot of lists, but for me I really love North Carolina. From having the Mountains around Ashville and the part of the Smoky Mountains as well as part of the Blue Ridge Pkwy, to Central NC with Charlotte, Lake Norman, all the way to Raleigh Durham, and then the coastline with the Outer Banks, Cape Lookout, Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, right on down to Wilmington. A lot of Beauty in NC!
What about yours?

Cape Cod

My favorite is not a state but an area.....Cape Cod. It has a slew of unique and interesting towns with great activities, entertainment, restaurants and places to stay. I have been visiting there since the early 60's and I can never get enough of it.

That is kind of asking which is your favorite child. There are parts of most of the eastern states that I would prefer vacationing in depending on time of year, what I would want to be doing, seeing, experiencing, etc.

That said there are things about all that I would not like. For example, Florida's heat and humidity in summer, lack of mountains, traffic in winter getting to the beaches, etc.

I don' think the OP really cares as long as it pushes views to her blog.

Not very kind.

My state, Maryland, is called "America in Miniature"--except for desert, you can go from the ocean to the mountains. Pennsylvania has some beautiful areas as well.

Looking at the posts, it seems that he/she doesn't know whether to go to Thailand or the eastern US. Where are you coming from cdnyul?
My favorite is Pennsylvania because I was born there and worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for over 35 years.
Maryland is nice too. My DD lives and works there.

If I understand your question correctly;
I click on the profile, look at the join date, past posts and finally at the link (travel blog)
Personally, I tend to be skeptical of fluffy posts that read like they were copied and pasted from a state travel website.

I have to vote for South Carolina! First, Greenville - with the great downtown and the arts that they bring. Columbia- the Gamecock Sports - we are big fans. The beaches- for the old beach town and shag music. Charleston- the most amazing everything (we just got back from there last night - awesome food, fun, bars, balls, people).

cdnyul, I stand corrected. Looking at OP's blog, it does indeed lean toward being commercial.

FavOrite state, so far...

East coast would have to be MA. You have history and city in Boston, or just spend time on the Cape,

West coast, for me is Washington. Seattle for the city, take the ferry to Victoria BC, or go to the mountains.

And these spots all all have great food....and crazy city traffic, so be prepared for that!

Maine is called Vacationland for a reason. So much diverse natural beauty and interesting places to explore, from Baxter State Park to the midcoast and bold coast regions. Portland is simply awesome to visit for food and a little bit of urban feel. So many quaint and interesting small towns. I loved it so much, and there's still so much I want to do there.

New York (not just the city, but upstate)
Massachusetts (Boston and Cape Cod)
New Hampshire (White Mountains)
North Carolina (Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway)
Tennessee (where to begin)
South Carolina (Charleston!)
Virginia
