Fandangle's or Branldi's, Restaurants in North Conway,New Hampshire
Has anyone eaten at either? Any good?I ask because I have Entertainment coupons for these two eating establishments, and they are convenient to our hotel. Or do you have a different fave that you would recommend? Many thanks!

My family has a vacation home in Conway. I have eaten at Fandangles on a number of occasions. They have a good variety, the food was good (although far from fine dining) and it is a favorite of the kids (they love the make your own salad bar).
My favorites (for fining dining) are:
- The Wildcat Tavern (16A Jackson through the covered bridge)cute pub attached where you can sit on couches and have a drink in front of the fireplace)
-the 1785 Inn (Intervale - best desserts).
I also enjoy:
- Tuckerman's Tavern (Intervale),
- I forget the name, but there is an Irish Place on 16A in Jackson (stay on 16, pass by the covered bridge and it is on the corner of the next street on the right an the very end of the 16A loop) best best pepper pizza that I have ever had in my life
- Horsefeathers right in North Conway Center (great everything)

Thanks, Linda, for the detailed response. It was a great help. It will be just my husband and me, and from your description, Fandangle's sounds like more of a place to take the family than couple's dining. We are leaning towards Horsefeathers, which has a web site. It's right in town, so no real driving, and it looks reasonably informal, so we wouldn't need to get too dressy after a day of hiking. A couple of the other places, if we decide to drive, look very good too. We're planning on visiting again in the fall, maybe with a different itinerary, so I am printing out your list for a good variety of possibilities. Thanks a million!

Hope you had fun at Horsefeathers. It gets pretty crowded during ski/summer and foliage season but since it is now "mud" season you shouldn't have had much of a wait.
As for Belinis (?), I wasn't crazy about it. I did like the decor and the place was clean. I'll give you my 10-year old nephew's quote as we were seated waiting for our dinner to arrive.... "How long did it take for the Titanic to sink? I think our meal is taking longer to arrive!!". The service was slow (after already waiting 1 1/2 hours for a table), the waitress we had was not at all pleasant (although she could have been having a bad day) and although the portions were very very large the food was not nearly as good as I would have expected given some of the other fabulous meals I have had in the area.

Hi Linda, Thanks again! I'm a bit confused by the "Belini's" post. I had asked about "Branldi's". Are they one and the same? It's not really important, as you have given me so many great ideas that I only wish that we could have more time on our up-coming trip to try them all! Still, now I'm curious! 1 1/2 hours - your poor nephew! At least he has a sense of humor! Actually, we are not visiting until June 2nd, so I hope Horsefeathers won't be super crowded. I guess we'll try to get there early or make a reservation - it sounds popular. I can't believe that I've never been to the White Mountains as we live only a short 3 hour drive away. I've heard so many raves!

Sorry for the confusion, there was a post under mine that read:
Author: M.A. ([email protected])

Message: Belinis?
I wasn't sure if M.A. was asking about it or recommending it, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents.
I don't think Horsefeathers takes reservations. It is more of a bar type atmosphere than fine dining (although the food is great).
You may wait a bit, but they have a great bar/waiting area upstairs and also have a bar to the left as you walk in.....

Linda, The bar environment sounds fine; we're looking forward to the experience. I have my eye on one of their margueritas!
As for the Belinis/Brandli's mystery, I looked them up {curiosity got the best of me}, and they are indeed two seperate establishments!
I appreciate all your help.

If the most important thing to you is using your Entertainment coupons, go for it! There are fabulous dining choices in North Conway and nearby Jackson not included in the Entertainment book and don't have website. There's a difference between "eating out" and "dining". If you don't mind the difference and economy is more important than the quality, you won't notice the difference. Here's another recommendation for the Wildcat Tavern (a total misnomer).

If price is a consideration (Since you are using the coupons) Try Stonehurst manor on a Thursday night.(They have a website - You can check the menu online)
Only on a thursday can you get two entrees for total price of $19.95. Bargain!
The food is fab and the setting more suitable to couples dining.
Also be sure to try Gunthers (Near Zebs store)for breakfast - Very reasonable prices.
Hope this helps

Geesh! Where did you get the misconception that I am limiting our dining choices to Entertainment coupons? In fact, if you reread the above posts, you will find that I decided on Horsefeathers and/or one of the other great suggestions Linda made, none of which are in our Ent. book. Initially, I asked about these two restaurants because they were the only names I had in front of me,and, all other factors being equal {obviously not the case}, the price and location were attractive. You guys are way funny!

Linda, if you read this, we did indeed eat at Horsefeathers and thought it was terrific! Their pad thai was amazing, my husband loved his steak dish and they serve killer margaritas!
The white mountains are lovely. We did a lot of hiking past waterfalls and and took a guided van trip up Mount Washington which I would recommend to anybody - what amazing scenery in an unworldly environment!
