Family with 3 year old considering Six Flags NJ - comments please
Looking for feedback whether the trip will be worth the drive as far as offering us enough to do with our 3 year old.
Would also love to hear about hotels to stay at within easy access to park.
Thanks!

PT,
I'd hate to let your question drop without an answer, so I'll have a cut at it.
I have never been to Six Flags NJ. I did, however, have season passes last year to Six Flags near Washington, D.C., and we had a 3 year old then.
Based on the two Six Flags parks I have visited recently, I believe they have similar offerings. There is a kiddie section. Most of the rides there worked fine for little kids with a sense of adventure. If you'd like to watch your child enjoy pint sized rides, there should be fun to be had. I don't know if the NJ park has a water park; if so, that is a LOT of fun for three-year olds.
As for your own enjoyment, I don't think you'd really be able to ride many of the big roller coasters and such. I wasn't aware of any kind of "baby swap" like they have in Disney parks.
Good luck!

Take a look at the NJ site's pages on the Six Flags site; it should give you an idea of what's available:

I think you'd have fun for a day at Great Adventure. If you are staying over you could spend the next day at the Safari. If it isn't too hot, the Safari is fun. You ride around in your car to see the animals, and there may be a petting zoo as well. I think they have opened another aspect to this park, but I don't remember the details. However, if you really are going, contact me directly by e-mail (information above is correct). I just got some 2 for 1 admission coupons from a vendor who stopped by my office last week, & my husband hates roller coasters. I can send one right out to you. Good timing!

Six Flags/NJ was one of our favorite haunts with our kids. There is a lot of excitement for a three year old,s o pace yourselves accordingly. We always got there early - at opening - went out of the park - to the hotel if possible for mid-afternoon break and nap, nad went back late afternoon evening. Much less wear and tear on the family that way. The safari is great fun - you can pretty much do it at your own speed - less patient drivers will pass you at different sites- but it is a separate charge from the theme park. The amusement park has a good brochure that indicates which rides outside of the kiddie area have height restictions. Again, look things over carefully and plan your day - otherwise you will be doing a lot of unecessary walking! Enjoy!!
