Falmouth, MA

Hello: Got some time off mid July of this year. Thinking of taking a road trip from NYC to Falmouth, MA. Plan to sightsee along the way and include a daytrip to Martha's Vineyard. Just wondering if I should stay in downtown Falmouth or search for a nearby area for lodging?
Thanks and have a happy summer season,
JRS, L.I., NY

There are places to stay downtown in Falmouth. It’ll be most convenient to stay there unless you plan to base yourself in the Woods Hole part of Falmouth.

It doesn't really matter. Downtown Falmouth is fairly small, and close to the beach. Falmouth Heights is also very nice. The Teaticket area is perhaps the busiest, with several shopping malls.
