Fairy Caves - Glenwood Springs

We will be spending a night in Glenwood Springs - was wondering if the Fairy Caves were worth our time. Thanks!

It depends. The current fire is near the caves and may not be open if you are going soon. Also, during the summer, the city(or someone) is building a tram or cable car (or something) to encourage visits to the cave. They are supposed to be opened in the fall. The fire is preventing construction right not.

We will be in Glenwood July 24th. I thought we would try out the springs and float the river, but was unsure about spending the $ for the caves. Hopefully the fire will be out by then. I don't really know much about the caves.

Some say the caves are interesting, but not terrific. I haven't been there. I don't know the cost. The fires should be contained, but probably won't be out unless there are some huge rainfalls which is unlikely in Colorado mid summer.( according to news report). Also, check on water conditions before committing to a float trip. Water levels are exceptionally low. I went through Glenwood Canyon last week and in some places there was only a trickle of water. But, on the west side of town, it is probably better. At rate, the springs will be great. You can also take a short trip to Marble, and visit the quarry. I think they are operating again. You can also take a slightly strenuous hike to Hanging Lake. And of course, Aspen.
