fairbanks, anchorage and denali area hotels

Everyone has always given great advise and suggestions for tours and what not to miss, thought I'd ask about only accomodations and your recommendations.

Looking for inexpensive accomodation recommendations.

We are planning to stay in the Denali area for 2 nights, 2 nights in Fairbanks and 1 night in Anchorage.

Thanks in advance

The SpringHill Suites in Anchorage is a nice hotel. I stayed at the Denali Bluffs while in Denali. Enjoy your trip to Alaska.

Look at B&B's usually a good value, I've stayed at plenty in Alaska and my preferred lodging. Will you have your own transportation???

Yes we will have our own transportation. We are planning to rent in Anchorage after a Northbound cruise on Carnival in June.

Everyone says you can save nearly 1/2 by planning your own pre or post-cruise package. I had the idea that accomodations were still quite expensive, but looking on-line the last few days there is quite a bit that is inexpensive. This scared me because the one school of thought is that you get what you pay for. Anywhere between 150 and 200 for as many as 4 sounds cheap. There are 7 of us in total

Denali Cabins - ~159
McKinley Creekside Cabins - ~119
Denali Grizzly Bear Cabins - ~125 - 175
Motel Nord Haven - ~140
Aspen Haus bed & breakfast - ~140
Denali Crows Nest - ~170

All with own bath - some would include kitchen.

We are looking for clean, safe, adequate lodging but wanted recommendations, can't always tell by pictures

Consider Touch of Wilderness B&B in Healy, I stay there every time I'm there. The 1/2 price goes beyond the lodging- it includes the tours, meals etc. For example- hopefully you are going on the shuttle system in Denali Park rather than the tour buses? You save 75% right there.

We stayed at the Aspen in Fairbanks and Denali Bluffs in Denali. Make your resevations as soon as possible. I made ours last Oct for our trip in July and saved a lot by booking early!

Sourdough Cabins at Denali are small, but spotless right at the entrance. Got it for $99.00 this past August booking direct on Westmark website. Look at Microtel in Anchorage AAA rate for $119.00 in August. Brand new large double rooms and decent continental breakfast. Nothing in the way of ambience or anything though. If I was going again and wanted to stay in town I'd give Priceline a shot for Anchorage and maybe Fairbanks.
