Extended StayAmerica Hotels

Hi! Does anybody have any experience with Extended StayAmerica Hotels that you could share? Am looking into staying at one in Kent, WA and just wondered how they rate for a small family of 2 adults and 2 children (ages 22 months and 5 years). Thanks!

Hi Karen

We stayed at their property in Santa Rosa, CA.--our son is in college nearby. It was fine for that purpose. It was new and clean, but not luxurious. It did had a small kitchen, which may be useful with young children. I don't recall if there was a stove top or just a microwave. There were washers/dryers on the first floor. There wasn't an elevator, and we were on the third floor. This was OK for us, but, with children, you may want to ask for a first floor room. Bottom line, it was a good basic place to stay for a few nights, but I wouldn't consider it as a vacation destination. I think there is a website.

Betsy's on target. They're clean, most are relatively new, basic, but offer a lot of little amenities which can save $. Not luxurious, but not as basic as a Motel 6, either.
Functional. That's a good description, I guess.

A couple of observations:

1) Extremely clean
2) Extremely spartan
3) Extremely cheap

You would not want to take someone here for a romantic liaison, but you certainly could do worse with kids. However, you are renting a very small space--much smaller than the photos on the their web site suggest. I'd consider another property if I were traveling with two small children.

Just stayed at one in Colorado Springs for a week. Was clean & nice. Small kitchen, fridge, cooktop & microwave. Did you try their web site? http://www.exstay.com/

My family and I stayed at an Extended Stay in Houston last summer, and it was very convenient. Our children were 3 years old and 6 months, and it was great to have a small kitchen in which to cook simple meals. There was a sink, coffee maker, full sized fridge, stovetop, and a microwave. The place was very clean, and the maid even washed our dishes. On the other hand, a couple weeks ago we were in Orlando and we stayed at a Studio Plus (which is a "bigger sister" property of Extended Stay, also on their website), which had an oven in the kitchen, and a pull-out sofa instead of a second double bed. My biggest complaint was that we had a weekly rate in Orlando, which meant we only had maid service once a week, as opposed to when we stayed in Houston on a daily rate, and had maid service everyday. I would definitely stay at Extended Stay again (although, as Tom said, it's a small space--- but I don't think that's a big problem if you're on vacation and spending most of your time away from your room), but I don't think I'd bother with Studio Plus again; we never once used the oven, and the sofabed was a pain to open and close everyday.
