Diving Operators in Key Largo

We're going to Key Largo over the 4th of July and wondered if anyone had recommendations for a Dive operator in Key Largo. Our hotel is at MM100 and there are so many all around there, we're at a loss. We would prefer a dive shop that has smaller dive groups going out versus 20 people at a shot. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You're at an excellent location to check out the dive ships! Just spend a day walking around the channel and see which ones look the best for what you're looking for. Take time to stop at Coconuts for lunch, the conch chowder is wonderful!

We just returned a month ago from there and dove with Horizon Divers. They are a smaller operation with smaller groups. They use a 48 ft catamaran,it is excellent for entering the water and particularily exiting. The people are really nice. They are located at MM 100. There are several hotels there within walking distance(less than 2 minutes) so you are probably staying at one of them. They have a web site www.horizondivers.com that you can check for info. If you have any specific questions, you can e mail me directly.

heres the only 3 i can remember....

amy slates amoray-a large pontoon type boat (good if you tend to get seasick)..a lot of divers though but a good dive anyway. lots of room to gear up.

wreck divers-out of the marina at jules verne underwater research facility. small boat...few divers but crowded area to gear up in. they went to the wrecks of course (the duane and the benwood) and also molasses reef.

florida keys dive center-in tavernier south of largo; good staff; decent sized boat...we took a morning dive which was not crowded..but there was a crowd waiting for the afternoon trip upon our return.

good reefs-molasses; french; davis ...but popular=crowds

Thank you very much for the input. We'll track down those operators. We're going to make our reservations in advance....

I'm heading to the Florida Keys next weekend and will be spending most of the week in Key Largo at Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort. Has anyone stayed here and, if so, can you tell me about your experience (likes, dislikes, etc.)?
Looking to do at least 4 dives and a lot of snorkeling while there. Thanks!
