Please share your experience in dealing with this Internet travel provider? Thinking of going to LA in January or February (whatever time is cheaper) and want to book air and hotel together.

I have had only good experiences with Expedia. You could also get package deals on Travelocity and Orbitz. Do a google search for coupons for those websites, so you can get an even better deal.

I use it just to get comparisons on prices for air and hotels. I also use it to compare the quality of the hotel.

Once I decide on a fare and hotel, I usually go directly to that airline/
hotel's website and book it directly. I've actually gotten cheaper deals this way and don't get charged for the hotel immediately and don't get charged the service fee (have noticed that there is about a $5.00 difference in airfares/
hotels and can only assume that this is an Expedia fee)

I've used Expedia for hotel and airfare bookings. No major problems, however I accidentally booked the wrong Orlando property. I caught it and called right away. I was hopping they wouldn't charge me a change fee. They did and even talking to a manager didn't get it reversed. It was my mistake although, my daughter was able to get a hotels.com change without incurring a fee. Now I use Expedia more as a checking tool. I can usually find the best deals direct thru the hotel or airline.

Actually I'm planning to book everything in July for Feb 9-13, airfare is only $300 plus tax RT with no stops on either flights. That is way too good and then I found a deal at Days Inn Hollywood area $60/night. Its an Airbus 320, is there enough overhead room for a pilot case? I think there would be.

First, what is a "pilots case"? Second, will you have a car? Public transportation is nearly non-existant in LA -- be careful you don't get stuck.

I don't mind walking and am deciding on strolling around Hollywood going to all the touristy stuff I've never seen before and some studio tours. I'll probably rent a car for 2 days and go see the Tonight Show.

you might want to reconsider the car rental policy. This has nothing to do with being spoilt or anything. But the area is vast - and public transport in L.A. not a concept that has been in the focus of city development.

For the price of a taxi to and from the airport you might be able to rent a car for a full day.

P.S. In order to solve the pilot case issue for seetheworld: A pilot case typically is one of the thicker (leather) briefcases that will hold at least one big folder. It should fit into the overhead compartment IMHO.
