Expedia

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas and I have found a big difference in hotel prices if I were to book directly thru the hotel or book thru Expedia.

I have never used Expedia, for those of you that have, would you recommend booking a hotel through the site?

Thanks

Expedia is totally legit. But before you book, why not call the hotel and see if they will match the expedia rate. Often they will -- and booking through the hotel you sometimes get perks like free wifi etc that might not be included w/ an Expedia booking.

Meant to add -- if the hotel doesn't match the rate you are safe booking through expedia.

I prefer booking.com. Never had a problem after a number of times. Have a look and see if the prices are similar.

I've never used expedia, but I have a friend who books everything on expedia. She saves expedia points and gets free travel from time to time. For hotels, I also use booking.com or the hotel's own website.

I used Travelocity, no problem on flight to Vegas, but check in said my partner wasnt booked, eventhough she was on the flight. Showed printout, and web site, was told her name will be added as guest. I said, huh? didnt she pay for the 2 adult booking?

Anyway, to avoid problems book with hotel and airline seperately.

I have had only positive experiences with Expedia. I've used them for hotels and for flights with no issue.

I've used Expedia many times to book hotels. It's fine.

Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc are fine and sometimes have different prices. Hotels will almost always match the best price you find online if you call them. The best part about calling a hotel is that you can request a certain type of room (quiet, near pool, first floor, etc).

Not true! In my direct experience, this is not true. I called the Hotel Healdsburg once, having stayed there before, and they basically shrugged and said, some rooms are blocked at the Travelocity rate, but we don't have any to sell at that rate, so go ahead and book with them.

Expedia is totally legit, as others have said... though if I were going to Vegas, I think I'd first use Priceline for possible deeper discounts. (that in part to my having zero interest in one 3-star hotel vs. another - UNlike so many other people)
