1. AirTrain from EWR terminals to EWR train station (you were missing this 1st step)
2. EWR train station to Newark Penn
3. PATH to WTC.
or
1. BUS #62 EWR terminals to Newark Penn
2. PATH to WTC.
Total travel time ~1hr either way., perhaps more depending on wait times
WTC PATH station is closed on weekends, but 26 Mar & 31 Mar are weekdays so no issues there.

thanks for your help! i will look out for the Air Train to get me or bus 62 first
i assume EWR ( where i have not been) is set up like most airports and signage will take me to the Air Train or the p/u for Bus 62
cheers

Should this be the case, you'll see yellow tape blocking the turnstiles and a sign indicating that the PATH trains are operating from Platform H. To get to Platform H from the NJ Transit platform, go downstairs to the main level and look for the McDonald's restaurant. To the left of the McDonald's there will be escalators. Take the escalators up 2 levels to the turnstiles for PATH's platform H.
Of course if there is no work being done then you will be able to access PATH from the NJ Transit platform (the exact timing of when PATH works on that area is not always known).
The AirTrain/NJ Transit fare from the Airport rail station is $10.75 (that covers $7.75 for the AirTrain access fee and $3.00 for the train fare to Newark Penn Station).
The PATH fare of $2.75 is separate and is payable using machines at the PATH turnstiles to get a Single ride ticket,or Multi-Ride MetroCard (there is a $1.00 fee to purchase a MetroCard but that MetroCard can also be used on the NYC Subway and NYC Buses).

Yes, you can. The cost is $33.00 (plus the $1.00 new MetroCard fee) - total $34.00.
The 7 day unlimited card will not pay for itself (break-even) until it has been used 12 times within the time you will be in NYC (12 x $2.75 = $33.00).
You may want to consider getting a regular MetroCard and add value as you need it. The card can be refilled as needed (note: there is a daily 2 transaction maximum limit using the same debit or credit card). The one time new card fee would apply.
2 fares = $5.50
3 fares = $8.25
4 fares = $11.00
5 fares = $13.75
6 fares = $16.50
7 fares = $19.25
8 fares = $22.00
9 fares = $24.75
10 fares = $27.50
While an Unlimited card expires within the 7 days after first use whether you use it for 7 days or not), the regular card has an expiration date of at least 14 months. Any cash value left on the card will remain on the card and if the card has expired can be transferred to a new card (at no additional cost) at a booth or MetroCard Vending Machine within one year after the printed expiration date.
Enjoy and Stay Safe.

nycguy10002,
thanks for that analysis. unfortunately my visit is now in postpone mode. both my BC provincial chief medical officer yesterday and our federal equivalent followed this morning advising us to avoid any non essential travel and advising us to stay in canada rather than venturing abroad.
i hope to keep well
cheers
