Ever get a parking ticket while on vc?

I got one in Ottawa and I paid it immediately... a few weeks ago I got one in LA. I got it 2 minutes after the meter expired. Yep, I know... expired is expired. I thought "screw 'em" and I shoved the ticket in my bag. I did not pay it. Of course the tracked me down throught the car rental agency and sent a new ticket to me.
I am going to pay it, but what would happen if I did not?

If it was a rental, and you did not pay, the rental co. would charge your CC after they paid. In addition they would add a handling fee, this fee, that fee, so you have to decide if it's worth it at the end....

Yes, we got one in Ireland. Paid it immediately. I can't remember the little town we were in, but you had to have some kind of pass to park there. We had just parked to go into the pub for lunch.

AA, evidently this is not the case with National Car Rental. They said that the way it works is the city involved knows that the car is a rental so they send a message to a contact at the rental company who forward the name of the person who rented the car.
They said that is the end of their involvement and they are never expected to pay the ticket. The new ticket was issued in MY name (vs. just the car plate # on the original citation) and sent to MY address.
I suppose I am lucky that they did not double it as stated they would on the original ticket if it was not paid within 10 days.
I still think many people would not pay the ticket. I have heard of people with 50+ unpaid parking tickets... I really would just like to know what happens if I don't pay it.

Wow! I forgot about those!
In 25 years of driving I have never had a moving violation (but easily could have)... especially when driving in unfamiliar surroundings. Specifically, I have gone the wrong way on one way streets... fortunately the streets were empty and I noticed before any harm was done.
