Have you read the thread by Connie?
Perhaps you would like to go as far west as Glenwood Springs instead of entering a flood zone.

This is not good time to come to Estes Park. You need alternate plans. It bad and probably worse than is being reported. I-25 north of Denver is closed. Lyons is being totally evacuated. Estes Park is completely cut off and not just roads closed. Whole portions of the road bed completely washed away. Even if it stops raining today, it will be several days before rivers and streams return to their normal beds.

I-70 corridor is fine and anything south of that is fine. We live on the south side of the Denver metro area and have had less than 2" of rain. Boulder and the northern areas have received from 10 to 12" and more coming.

List of road closings ----

Yes, it seems like my earlier guess that "I'd say noon-ish on Saturday would be OK" grossly underestimated the scale of the damage.

I hope the OP is not trying to get to Estes tonight...

Underestimated is a kind word. Closer to noon-ish on Saturday in two or three weeks will be closer. Although you could access Estes Park via Trail Ridge Road, I am not sure you would want to go. The Big Thompson is now exceeding the flow of the flood in the early 80s. Big problem is all of the flood controls put in over the past few years never forecast a rain of this size and duration. Everything is being overrun. It is now starting to spread onto the front range which is why I-25 north of Denver is closed because it is covered. The area south of Fort Collin is turning into a giant lake. It could be a couple of weeks before all the water pulls back. Rail service north is now closed. It will be a while before things are anywhere back to normal.
