ESB express pass

Assuming NYC is not shut down, I am taking my 10 year old to visit it MLK wknd. I am planning on going to the ESB observatory. I prefer ESB because it has no glass, and it is better for my photography. I saw there is an express option that costs about 2x as much as the standard ticket.. Would it be helpful for me if I get there Friday night? I would rather not stand in line for hours on end, especially since I will be there with a kid around 6-7 PM or so. But, given the pandemic and the off-season (??) perhaps it isnt that crowded. Any suggestions?

Also, is the 9/11 guided tour with it, especially the one at 9 AM before the museum generally opens to the public?

I am thinking you are looking at CityPass or some other deal as specific attraction tickets are for that attraction only.

Any ticket to most attractions in NYC (like ESB and the 9/11 memorial) are on a 'reservation only' basis, meaning they are for a specific time and duration. I don't know if under those circumstances long lines will be the issue. I also don't think that the Express ticket option CityPass mentions would really help in a reservation system (perhaps someone else can advise on that).

A CityPass covers 6 attractions. While it includes the ESB, you have to choose between the 9/11 Memorial & Museum or the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Also remember, masks are required as well as proof of vaccination. Best to also check the specific websites for the attractions to get the specifics.

Whatever you decide to do - enjoy your visit
