ENTERTAINMENT IN VEGAS

We are going for a one week stay in Vegas in Feb. We have heard conflicting stories about whether it's cheaper to buy tickets when you're there vs buying them through the internet beforehand. The two shows we definitely want to see are O and Jersey Boys. Does anyone have any info that could help us decide?

I doubt you'll find discounts on O or Jersey Boys; however, you will find good values for other shows if you keep checking this site: http://www.goldstar.com/las-vegas/events

If you have your heart set on those two shows, buy good seats now and spend the next four months anticipating the good times you are going to have.

Agree that for the biggest hits you won't find discounts. If this is something you do rarely, spring for a few $ more and see what you really want.

Below is the link for O tickets at the Bellagio website. Note that there is no show Feb 5-8

I recommend that you call to get tickets and use the seating chart that is linked to that page to select your seats.

Looks like there is a 20% discount on some nights. The online ticket ordering goes through December. The discount online ticketing goes through November. Again, I recommend not use the online ordering, but call. Point is that you might have to wait a month after regular Feb tix go on sale until the discounted tix are on sale.

I suggest buying lower end tickets (except limited view). There's not a bad seat in the house for O

O and Jersey Boys are among the most popular shows in town, but *occasionally* you can find same-day, half-price tickets at Tix 4 Tonight, which has almost a dozen ticket booths in convenient locations around town, including on the Strip.

But if you don't want to chance missing these shows (as getting last-minute discount tickets is unlikely), buy tickets in advance (the sooner, the better for getting the best seats). There are 3 main ways that Vegas shows make discounts available:

1. discounts for booking online on the show's website;
2. discounts for booking online on the casino hotel/resort website;
3. discount promo offers on social media sites (mainly Facebook and Twitter).

For O, check both the Bellagio website (currently running a 20% off deal) and the Cirque du Soleil official site for O (also offering 20% off currently).

For Jersey Boys, check the Palazzo website, which has a link to click through for "Promo Tix."

You can also find out about special money-saving ticket deals through the iPhone / iPad travel app Viva Las Vegas, Baby!: http://bit.ly/pF0Ruf
