Hi Stuart - Entertainment Books are sort of like a Yellow Pages of your local community offering 1/2 savings at numerous places around town - for example, local restaurants, attractions, grocery stores, movies, dry cleaners, etc. Sometimes restrictions apply (usually on holidays) when these -2 for 1- offers cannot be used, especially at restuarants. Books will include a credit card type card that you present at finer restaurants-usually the restaurant will punch a hole in the card so you're not able to use the card again (for 1/2 off savings) at that restuarant - sometimes restaurants won't punch the card, so you can return - and enjoy the discount. More casual places will require you to turn in a coupon from the book to utilize any discounts.

Entertainment Books also offer (on a national basis), car rental discounts, some travel discounts(plane fare/hotel rooms), discounts at theme parks, etc. They even offer discounts on hotel rooms overseas/Canada/Mexico.

They can be somewhat expensive upfront ($30), but, you'll recoop that in no time - especially if you're able to exchange coupons with friends.

Should be able to purchase one thru work. Entertainment Books are valid from November 1-October 31, so the Books for 2000 are currently on sale.
There may also be a website thru which you can purchase a book.

A lot of charitable organizations sell them-you might check with local churches, your Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts, etc. Or go to www.entertainment.com to order from them.

We use for local dry cleaners, movie rentals, local restaurants and occasionally travel related things like car rentals and hotels.

Just picked my 2000 E-book up on Friday at a local elementary school. Call 1-800-374-4464 to find out where you can get one in your area, and you also can order one where you may be going on vacation. You can even save money on airplane tickets and cruises!

If you go to Hawaii alot, or even just once, it's worth it to use an Entertainment book (any city) to get a 50% discount on ANY Outrigger Hotel on any island, any time. That's what we've done the past few years. (We use our Seattle book -$30.00 - to get the discount, then in Hawaii buy the Hawaii book -also $30.00 - to use for dinners etc while we're there. More than pays for itself.)
