Thanks to all of you for your input. We will keep checking as it seems we are checking a bit too soon. . Booking ES Secaucus appeals to me but not to hubby... still working on this. He feels staying in Manhattan saves lots of headaches at our age .... Thanks again

I'm with your husband. Keep looking (but make a completely refundable reservation in Secaucus as your back-up plan in case nothing else works out, though I think it will work out).

There's an Embassy Suites in Manhattan too. While it's not very convenient, it's much more convenient than Secaucus and might very well come in at under $250 per night. Other hotels (like Affinia hotels) can also be under $250 for smaller suites with small kitchenettes).

Even you feel a Secaucus'hotel might be a good choice offering breakfast a good rate etc. location is very important. Visiting any big city demands the possibility to access your room and any time
during the day. It is a big difference, once we stayed in the Sheraton in Florence and although it is not a big city it was a big mistake......

Thank you all... booked Hampton Inn Soho. We have stayed here before and loved it so decided to return.
