Embassy Square Summerfield Suites- have you stayed? Dubliner Bar- where is it?

Hi! Has anyone stayed at the Embassy Square Summerfield Suites? How was it? I got a great deal and it has all I want.. Also, do you know where the Dubliner Bar is? AND- is Mount Vernon a day trip from DC? How much time to allow- we have no car. THANKS

I actually stay every month on business at that place! There is a nice 2 bedrm suite on the 2nd fl. The furniture is sorta old and worn, but OK. The kitchens have full frig, 4 burner stove, pots, pans cooking & eating utensils, glasses and microwave. DO NOT get the studio rooms...tiny! The place is about 2 blks from Dupont Circle and that has some realy eclectic places to eat and drink. There is a hamburger joint across the hotel and a McD's a blk away. Mt Vernon is a day trip. You do need a car. Good luck.

The Dubliner is on Capitol Hill. Take the metro to the Union Station stop. It's a short walk (less than 5 minutes) from there.

Mount Vernon is only about 15 miles from DC. Without a car, take the metro to King Street station. Either get a Dash bus ($1) down King Street, or walk down King until you reach the river (about 20 minutes). There are various boat tours there. It's about $26 per adult for roundtrip boat ride and admission to Mount Vernon.

Never used the pool. It looks clean. The rooms are clean ( I did see hair in my shower once). The furnishings are old, OK. I don't get a chance spend a lot of time in my room so I don't mind.

The Dubliner is in the Phoenix Park Hotel, which is on North Capitol near the corner of Massachusetts Ave. You can enter either through the hotel or directly into the Dubliner from F Street. You might also enjoy the Irish Times right next door, although its music isn't as varied and does not happen every night. Depends upon your age--if you're over 35 (which I am) you might not enjoy the Times later on Fridays evenings. Personally, I think the burgers are better at the Times.
