Elton John in KC - Hotel ideas?
We are planning a trip to KC for Elton John Concert at Kemper Arena. Any ideas for hotel nearby? We usually stay at The Fairmont at the Plaza but would like somthing closer to Kemper.
Any new restaurant ideas for late lunch? I just received April Bon Appetit - Bluestem and 1924 Main are restaurants recommended. Any first hand knowledge?
Thank you

When I recently needed to book a hotel in that area for a friend, the best deal was at the downtown Doubletree.
I've heard good things about 1924 Main but haven't been there.
Restaurants I like in that neighborhood:
La Bodega for Tapas. It is only about 4-5 blocks from Kemper. http://www.kansascitymenus.com/labodega/
Rosedale BBQ, right up Southwest Blvd.
Newly reopened Blue Nile (Ethiopian) in the City Market. Succotash in the City Market might also interest you, but I haven't tried it.
There are more Mexican restaurants in that neighborhood then you can shake a stick at. My personal favorite is Las Chiquitas Mexican Restaurant at 1656 Broadway.
Going a bit farther away, you have a bunch of interesting choices in and around Crown Center.

Oh, and if you feel like slumming after the concert, Town Topic is a wonderful tiny old dive at 2021 Broadway St. It is open 24 hours. http://www.digitalcity.com/kansascit...sbid=111822051

ooooo. I have to check this one out. Thanks for the reply, surfergirl. I recall that you answered some of my EJ questions as I was getting ready to go see him in LV last fall. As I recall, you had seen him there summer '04. Did I ever thank you for the seating help? If not, I am bowing for you now-- thank you very very much.
