Stopped at Eataly today. I purchased razor clams at $8 a pound, a store baked corn bread $2.80 and a plastic container of mesculin complete eith some sort of flower, $4.

Those are all reasonable prices for Manhattan. While Mrs Adu liked the corn bread, I found it a bit lacking in taste, even though the texture was fine. The clams and salad were fresh.

Is the Murryay's in grand Central anywhere near as good as Bleeker st location?

The Murray's in GCT has many of the same products as Bleecker Street. They have also started selling cooked and cured meats at that lcoation.

Emily, I don't know if they have limoncello glasses, but my favorite place in NYC for unique glasses/ dishes is Fishs Eddy.

Went back to Eataly because I was in the neighborhood again. And the price of fish has risen dramatically since Monday. The fellow in front of me was complaining and the fishmonger was very sympathetic.

So much for reasonable prices.

Just wanted to second Moore Brothers for wine -- it's one of the best wine stores in the city. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about their stock and won't steer you wrong.

So I know the place is crowded and overpriced, but went there last month and it was a fun place. Planning a trip back to NYC in November with another couple and would like them to see it. So what would be the best time to go for it to be the least crowded? Any thoughts? Also appreciate the comments on other restaurants.

You'll get plenty of thoughts and none of them will actually affect the situation whenever you visit. Oddly enough, most of us do not spend our time doing head counts at all of the many entry ways of Eataly. Enjoy whenever you go and if it is too crowded then leave.

I would suggest perhaps during the week at a time that is not traditionally a meal time when lots of folks might be at work but honestly I have no idea.

Eataly is fairly quiet at opening, but a lot of the shops and restaurants are also closed. I'd guess later in the afternoon mid-week (after 2:30pm to 4pm) would be the least crowded times. It is really busy during the lunch period and again after work, though on a weekday that might be a bit better. Weekends are always madly busy ... still.

Eataly was one of our favorite NYC experiences, but yes, get there early!

We had a great pizza meal at Eataly. It was crowded and there was a 40 minute wait for a table so we put our names on the list and then headed to the wine bar where we enjoyed a bottle of wine while we waited. We found some of the grocery lines expensive for everyday shopping. We were staying just around the corner on 23rd st and mostly shopped at Garden of Eden which is at 162 west 23rd st which had a great range of cheese, cold cuts etc as well as fresh produce.

Anyone know if Eatily - or any where else - carries "Pocket Coffee"?

Buonitalia in Chelsea should have it. Call first before you go in this weather.
