Easiest way from Hyannis to NYC?

Visiting Hyannis in September for a family wedding. Planning to travel the Monday after to visit friends in New York City. We prefer not to rent a car if at all possible, or reasonable. Will fly into Boston from Oregon and take the airport bus to Hyannis. Can we get to NYC by plane, train, coach, ferry? I've spent the afternoon researching timetables and threads here on Fodors and so far, it looks like an enormous (and expensive) slog - Peter Pan bus to Providence, trundle bags to Amtrak station, then Amtrak to Penn Station comes off as the easiest but still consumes the better part of a day. Flying involves a Cape Air Cessna to Boston and then Jet Blue to Newark for almost $500 for two.

Help please! Does anyone know another way to do this?

I think bus to train is your best option. You could get a bus to Boston and train from there - that bus might be easier or run more frequently - I don't know, but it's backtracking and doesn't seem to make sense.

Without driving, bus to Providence then train to NYC is your best option.

JetBlue flies HYA to JFK daily through Sept 7th, then every Fri/Sun for the rest of the month.

Because the Boston bus actually stops at the Amtrak station in Boston before it goes on to Logan Airport, it is easy to make a train connection to NYC.

But you could go on to Logan and take JetBlue to JFK. Get on the JetBlue email list. They have amazing fare sales. The Cape Air to Boston may be the expensive part of your trip, though $250 per person from Hyannis to Newark isn't terrible.

But I would prefer HYA-JFK for many possible NYC destination.

Jet Blue out of Hyannis or Amtraak as noted above.

Thanks so much to you all for your help, comments and suggestions. Will get back with final plans after I compare costs, timing, etc. so the information is here in case someone else comes up with the same query.

You could do the entire trip by bus with a change in Providence.
