You apparently didn't read the OP's OP. They will be traveling on a pass, so flying will be cheaper.

We can debate whether flying or driving is better, but I would note that you use inflated travel times for air travel whenever this topic comes up.

Well, if you're limited to public transport, then the five top-tier cities in Texas are all a bust (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Fort Worth). The public transport connections are inconvenient and slow. Dallas will improve somewhat when the DART light rail connects to DFW (the TRE is not a viable substitute).

New Orleans also sucks. Not a bit of sense in going from MSY to the city by bus - that's only worthwhile by cab.

Denver also bites - DIA is out on a plateau of nothing miles from downtown. Denver's rail system is building an extension.

ABQ is a possibility (although people who live there or visit more often can better advise you on that).

It does have buses that will get you to the main attractions.

The question would be how convenient the bus service to and from the airport is—I've never used it, so I don't know.

If you want to do Disneyland there are dedicated bus shuttles from both LAX and SNA straight to several of the hotels. Kids ride free.

From LAX you can take the FlyAway bus to Union Station. Walk thru Union Station and catch the Red Line mass transit to Hollywood and Highland. The Loew's hotel is right there. Use the HOHO bus to sightsee.

You can take the Red Line and a shuttle to Universal Studios. There is a free weekend shuttle to the Griffith Park Observatory from the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station.

Also you can travel between Disneyland and Union Station by ART shuttle and train, so no problem doing both Disney and LA in the same visit.

Atlanta is easy. The MARTA station is in the airport and will take you to downtown, Midtown and Buckhead on the north/side line and you can switch at 5 points to go to Decatur. Decatur is a great small town in the middle of the city.

Thinking of a quick trip to MSP, basically to visit Mall of America for a day. The hotels have shuttles to both.

DC is a definite as is PHL. NYC I'll do when my husband is around. I'm not familiar enough to tackle that one on my own.

I saw the Disney sugguestions and we can do world as well if we stay on site since they offer the "free" bus to the airport.

Never considered SLC...will now.
