Early Snow

I just thought I'd pass the word that it has already starting snowing here in Breck. We usually don't see this much snow until after October 31, as it traditionally snows on Halloween. Almost every afternoon the clouds roll in and the peaks get a another inch or two. I'd say the snowline is down to about 10,500 feet. And, it's been rather chilly, 36 degrees as I type this at noon.

We got our passes yesterday, the VR as well as Copper. It's funny, but when you add the cost of the two together it's still about half of what we used to pay for the all area passes many years ago, and about the same cost as the old Ski the Summit passes which included all four areas. Plus, you get 10 days at Vail/BC. We also pick up the Nordic Center passes for both Breck and Frisco. Another truly awesome bargain.

Finally, I thought I would pass on a bad dining experience, at the Ski Tip Ranch of all places. Thai beet soup, stingray appetizer, yuck. The worst meal I've had there, and I usually eat there 2-3 times a year. The worst meal I've had anywhere, in fact, in a long time, imho. Denver still kicks our **** when it comes to food.

Pray for SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Breckboy for the info! Got a question for you also. Coming in to Vail and Breckenridge 12/15 to 12/22. Staying 3 night Vail and 3 nights Breckenridge. Will probably ski 4 or 5 days. What's the best ski pass to obtain and from where. Thanks a bunch!

Our son took his girlfriend on a surprise birthday trip to Colorado Springs this weekend where he planned on proposing at the top of Pikes Peak. It was snowing like crazy up there, and as they never see snow, that was a treat, but they were wet and shivering so he decided that wasn't quite the mood he was looking for, and waited til they got down to a better comfort zone before pulling out the ring. Would have been a terrific idea though if they'd only been ready for snow and the sort of cold they had this weekend! Must have really been something for him to decide to wait as otherwise, it sounds pretty romantic, proposing at the top of Pikes Peak in the snow!

Gretchen, check out www.snow.com for your pass info. I think you'll find what you're looking for there.

Glad to hear it's so hot in SC. You want the sun, we want the snow! Can't ski very well in the sand, however.

The Silverton ski area had a 40 inch base yesterday, and we have had even more snow in the San Juans in the last 24 hours!
