Early may anniversary trip suggestions?

My husband and I are thinking of taking a 5 day vacation in early may to celebrate our 7th anniversary.

Our first inclination was to do a beach vacation and just relax, but we're open to other suggestions, as we enjoy exploring new cities/areas.

We'll be flying out of Chicago, so I'd appreciate suggestions that have direct flights from there.

Thank you!

What are your interests? Knowing that might help people with suggestions.

The Don CéSar in St. Petersburg is a great hotel, very romantic. And there are great museums to see in SP, the Salvador Dali museum, the Museum of Modern Art (Monet's London exhibit) and the Florida International Museum with its new Princess Diana exhibit. Great restaurants, day trip to Busch Gardens or Adventure Island. Wildlife excursions. May is a wonderful time to enjoy the beach, the absolutely best month for the beach. The spring-breakers are gone, the water is warm, it's a great time to soak up the sun (in moderation, of course). Happy Anniversary!

Ritz-Carlton Naples.

Fly non-stop to Ft Myers, rent a car or take a taxi down to Naples (30-45 minutes).

They also have a golf resort property inland which is nice, a bit cheaper, and you can go to use the beach at the Naples Ritz. Go to Ritz-Carlton.com

We too have an early may anniversary so here are some things we have done over the years.
1. Inn at Blackberry Farm-An incredible resort in the smoky mountain of Tennessee. (fly into knoxville) They have a great cooking class, we have taken flyfishing lessons, hiking, tennis, biking, etc. Fantastic service and food. A full service resort in a beautiful location
2. The bradywine region of Delware-We stayed at the Inn at Montchain-very nice and romantic-we toured Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, other galleries etc. A very nice setting, relaxing, romatic and different. We flew into Philadelphia
3. Headlsburg, California-A very nice wine region-We stayed at the Honor Mansion in the tower suite. Very comfortable and we enjoyed the private spa. We rented bikes and toured the wine regions, hiked, ate great food and drank fine wine. We flew into oakland and it was a short drive to the sonoma region.

Hope this suggestions are helpful, itsv

Although they aren't on the ocean, I think San Antonio is the best vacation city in this country. The riverwalk is romantic, and they have great restaurants and historical sites. It's a fun town! Theres something for everyone! http://www.sanantoniocvb.com/

Thank you all. We have a very wide range of interests, so all of these suggestions are appealing. I will look into all of them and give you a trip report when we return!
