Durango Colorado Restaurant Picks

Thought I would post some favorites of ours for those heading toward SW Colorado:

The Irish Embassy Pub, a new place on Main and 9th that is getting a lot of good buzz. {Sidenote, sadly, one of the owners died just a few weeks after the place opened}.

Steamworks Brewery on Second Ave [ a block east of Main] and 8th has really great beer, good food and lots of brew pub feel to it.

Guido's EXCELLENT Italian food, our favorite place on Main & 12th www.guidosfavoritefoods.com/

Gazpacho on Second, near Wyndham, has the best New Mexican Cuisine. www.gazpachorestaurant.com/

Cyprus for Mediterranean - on Second Ave www.cypruscafe.com/

Pizza - Farquahrt's on Main www.farquahrts.com

Mexican - Tequila's 948 Main

Lunch or dinner:

Kennebec Cafe, just west of town on 160, is a wonderful place. http://www.kennebeccafe.com/

Christina's on SR 160 heading west, just a few minutes out of town.

Serious Texas BBQ - 2 locations on SR 550, at north end of town and and eastern part of town. http://serioustexasbbq.com/

Deli - Bert's NY Deli just outside of downtown

Durango Bagel on 5th, near train depot and movie theatre for breakfast.

High end:
Mahogany Grill, on Main www.mahoganygrille.com

Chez Grandmere www.chezgrand-mere.com - behind Ralph Lauren shop

Cosmo's 919 Main www.cosmodurango.com

Thanks Deb! We will also be in Santa Fe for two nights and ABQ for one. I know that SF has tons of restaurants, but do you have any favorites in those two cities?

From a previous thread:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...1&tid=34921091

As that list goes back a ways, there are some places no longer around:

Ambrozia Cafe
Graze
Great American Land & Cattle
Robbs Ribbs
Le Cafe Miche
Sigs

Jennifer James [Graze} has a new place called 101 that has gotten great reviews.

BBQ at Mad Maxx's in Rio Rancho on 528 across from Intel is excellent.

Banana Leaf a bit further north on 528 is also really good. {varied asian food}

I am not the go to for Santa Fe; but do a search and there are lots of ideas on here. Beachgirl knows her stuff and has lots of threads on here for SF.

Check out the southwest board on chow.com too.

Sweeney's was great when we were there last year. Enjoyed the steaks and the prime rib.
