My daughter and I are headed to DC tomorrow. We'll be staying on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown. Is a cab the best way to get there?

From Dulles, I certainly would, but I have not lived there since my days at GU (M-71) and Bethesda NH, and I would never drive a rental there again.

Public transport to and from Dullies is my least favorite feature of the airport.

If $ is not a consideration, a cab is the easiest way to get there. It's been a couple of years since I've done it but the fare will be at least $50. Hope someone with more contemporary info chimes in here.

The Washington Flyer operates a bus which runs to the West Falls Church metro stop for (I think) $8 a person one way. Metro into the city from there will be only a couple of bucks. Drawback is that there's no metro station in Georgetown. For this option, I'd probably take the metro closest to Gtown, Foggy Bottom or Rosslyn and cab it from there to the hotel.

There's a shuttle bus that goes to the hotel that runs about $20 odd a person. Supershuttles phone 800-BLUE VAN (258-3826).

Meant to say that Supershuttles says it goes to all the downtown hotels. I'd call first to make sure your hotel is one of them.

Have you inquired at your hotel about the best transport options? If they give you a couple, run them by the forum and you'll get some more opinions, I'm sure.

I would take Metrobus 5A from Dulles to Rosslyn ($3) and then get a cab over to Georgetown. Probably be under $15 total for both of you.

Unless you want to do mass transit, for 2 people, you might as well take a taxi--the Super Shuttle is almost the same price for 2. The taxi drivers from Dulles are all Washington Flyer, and apparently that company does not treat its drivers well, because they're a fairly angry lot. But not nearly as angry as the Super Shuttle drivers, who seem to like to take it out on the passengers. At least the taxi drivers just beef about their employers, and don't take it out on the passengers.

You may have left already, but avoid SuperShuttle. You could end up riding around for 2 hours, and the drivers aren't very safe--they make cab drivers look like little old ladies.

For the price of 2 SuperShuttle tickets you can get a cab--don't get into an unmarked cab. There are plenty at the airport, and you can also look for the Washington Flyer cabs.
