"Dueling Piano Bar" in NY?

A friend and I (women in our early 40s)are headed to NY next weekend. Are their any fun piano bars? I've been to a dueling piano bar in Chicago and it was a blast!

Oddly enough there's one in Las Vegas' NY, but I don't know of one here. Hopefully someone else can help you out. I found this place on citysearch http://newyork.citysearch.com/review/7175248

I'm pretty sure Brandy's is a gay bar, if that matters to you.

I think all cabaret bars are, by definition! I doubt it's too outrageous given the location. The description sounds excellent!

I never EVER miss a visit to Don't Tell Mama's if in NYC! I have been in there when under-studies from Broadway come in and perform and it is sheer heaven. The comedy is great. It is gay but not intimidating-ly so at all. Hey> look at the bright side, you won't get hit on!! I LOVE MAMAS!!! P.S. The later you go, the better it gets.

The piano bar part is very enjoyable. The caberet part in the back is great, especially when its the Judy Garland/Barbra Striesand guy.

Both Brandy's and Don't tell Mama are lots of fun but I don't think of either as dueling pianos.

Brandys and Don't Tell Mamas are both fun. Brandys is pretty small though and in the middle of a somewhat residential area on the Upper East Side, which may not be convenient if you decide you don't like it. Don't Tell Mamas used to have a dueling pianos group but I think it's now defunct. DTM is in the theater district though so at least if you don't like it there are many other options in the area. Helens is a cabaret bar as well around there, so is Danny's Skylight. Also, Dillons is a huge broadway, local singer-songwriter hangout that has events sometimes. A few blocks from there O'Flahertys is known to have performance nights. Good luck!

Karen has won the "Mack" award the last several years for the best Cabaret in town. Karen's website for more info is www.karenmack.com
