Drums of the Pacific Lu'au walking distance from The Whaler condos?

We are staying at the Whaler, can we walk to the Luau at the Hyatt? With the open bar this may be the safest option for us. I searched on Mapquest and it looks like it is about a mile, but I am not sure if it is a 'safe' mile.

Also, I understand that with some Luaus reservations are needed far in advance. Is this also true for The Drums of the Pacific?

Last question, has anyone bought the VIP seating tickets? Are they worth the money?

Thanks for all your help!

Suzanne

Nice easy walk down the beach walk. Very pretty as you pass all the lights of the hotels and tiki torches all over. I don't think it's a mile from the Hyatt to the Whalers unless it's so pleasant that it doesn't feel like it!

We stayed at The Westin in October, which is even closer than The Whaler and we drove. You could walk along the beach to get there and it is safe.

The drinks at the open bar are not strong, you would have to drink alot to be unable to drive the short distance.

We did make reservations in advance to be sure of getting them..about 2 months. I would NOT pay the extra for the VIP tickets. The seats for regular price are fine for viewing the show. The only advantage might be not having to wait in the line so long. We got there early so that we were pretty close to the front of the line and had a good choice of tables.

We used this company and saved some $$

Hope this helps...

Thank you so much, Suzie and Debi! I appreciate your help.

Debi - I will go ahead and get the tickets from the website you mentioned. How early did you get there to get good seats?

We got there about 45 minutes early.

If you haven't heard of Warren & Annabelles, it is THE best slight of hand/magic show we have every seen. The food was good too. Make reservation NOw, as it is small and usually sold out.

Check it out at:

I have some trip reports you might want to read :
