Driving time Zion to North Rim GC
I've seen that the driving time from the East Entrance of Zion NP to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2 hours. We are going the middle of May. Can anyone verify that this is indeed the driving time? We will also be driving up to Bryce NP. Are there many "drop offs" or areas of driving that a person with vertigo and a mild fear of heights would have problems with? Has anyone stayed at Zion Mountain Resort cabins, on the buffalo preserve? Thanks so much.

The drive will be closer to three hours than two, not including stops. That is assuming you can make it at all in mid-May. They only open the access road once the snow has gone away and sometimes that happens by mid-May, sometimes not.
From the east Zion entrance to the north rim, there are no problems with roads or drop offs that should cause you concern.
I have not stayed at the ZM Resort but I drive by it several times a year and it seems clean and well cared for from the outside.

From the East Entrance of Zion NP to the ENTRANCE station of the N. Rim I would also say 3 hours, but then you have to add another 1/2 hour to get to the N. rim. These roads are slow going and if you get stuck behind a motorhome, it will take even longer. I know....we're that slow going motorhome. We do try to move over so others can pass, but there isn't always a place to do that on this road.
You do realize that the N. Rim opens in Mid-May. Please make sure it's open before you go.

I couldn't tell if you planned on going from the East Entrance to the N. Rim and on to Bryce in the same day. That's a lot of SLOW driving! Plan on another 4 - 4 1/2 hours from N. Rim to Bryce Canyon.
Now you asked about drop offs. If you are going to spend some time in Zion, do you realize that from the East Entrance of Zion to the canyon area of Zion you have to go though the Zion Tunnel and then there are a number of switch backs. Heights don't bother me, but I imagine this could bother someone with a mild fear of heights. The main canyon is in this valley and if you have to drive this way each time you want to go do something in the park.
