Will Do Gail!! Have a great holiday also...I spoke with a truck driver I know and he is going to tell me a way around the cross bronx and how to get over the GW pretty easy he said... He drives the Boston to Dc corridor about 3 times a week. Good solid advice there also. I will let you all know how I make out.

The is a Full Serve Dunkin Donuts at Exit 97 in Smithfield, NC. It is in the same lot as the Exxon station directly across from the exit.

If you are driving south, plant to fill up in South Carolina rather than North Carolina. It is usually around 20 - 25 cents cheaper.

There is a chain of gas stations in the sourthern states called "Love" that tends to have lower prices than most others and sometimes the lowest.

If you need a break, stop by Young's pecans in Florence (at the exit for Highway 52) for some holiday treats! Safe travels.

OK!! Here is the update. We left our home in Rockland mass @145am. We made it to the Hutchenson Expressway in ny by 430am. Just as we cleared the exit there was a major truck accident that closed the highway by the cross Bronx xway. After waiting until 545am we were finally routed off the highway and through the Bronx back onto 95s. We cleared the GW bridge and made it down the NJ turnpike clear of Newark and pulled into the 2nd rest area at 705am. After a quick gas up and bathroom break we were off and running again. Uneventful trip through NJ,Delaware,Maryland and into Virginia by 495 west to get around DC. Our 2nd stop was at 1030 in Lorton Va for a quick peebreak for the kids and a quick sandwich at Burger King..From here we were back on the road and shot straight down 95 to 295 west around Richmond and back onto 95 S.We arrived in Wilson NC to our hotel at 215pm. Total Time 12 hours 30 mins and 708 miles... Not a badtrip...

Senor! South of Thee Border! I fly past that place as quickly as I can. Glad your trip was uneventful.

And hi basingstoke. I am back. Jet lag gets worse as I get older, lol. I will try to work on posting some highlights.
