Driving from Jacksonville, FL to Hilton Head, SC

Going to Hilton Head in August. Will be using a free ticket on American and they don't fly to any of the closest airports to HH so thinking of flying into Jacksonville and driving. Freetrip.com says it's a 2 1/2 hr drive. Is this accurate?

How about Myrtle Beach or Columbia, SC or Wilmington, NC. There must be something closer to Hilton Head than Jacksonville.

3 hours sounds about right from downtown Jacksonville but I think the airport is a ways out.

Wilmington NC is about 4 1/2 hrs from HH. AA doesn't fly into Myrtle Beach or Columbia SC. Any other suggestions?

I don't think Jacksonville would be a bad drive, but you could also try Florence SC.

I checked AA's website. Of course, that's where I should have started. Duh...anyway, looks like JAX is closest airport they fly into. Thanks, anyway, everyone.
